
You sure as hell know that Derek Jeter wouldn't be hitting the showers early during the playoffs.
But then again, Papa Joe Torre never had to deal with a human being as, um, unique as Manny Ramirez.
During the Phillies 9th inning rally the other night, Manny was too busy getting zestfully clean to even know what was going on.
"Manny has so much confidence," Papa Joe said. "When we get a lead late in the game, and I've taken him out, whether it be for defense or we have a big lead, when we go up to shake hands after the game, he's in his street clothes.
"So, it's really nothing different than he's done before. I don't think it's disrespect or anything. He wasn't going anywhere until the game was over, and we can't put him back in the game."
Yea, but it doesn't make it right.
Could this kind of "special treatment" be a reason the Dodgers are on the brink of elimination?
